Sorry about the back to back weekend posts – it’d appear that I was a bit MIA last week – it was definitely kind of an off week for me, plus I was off work last Monday and Friday.
It was such a great weekend – I saw everyone, worked out, went out, watched football, etc.
I’m backing up all the way to Thursday because it was a special night. Today is my sister, Ashley’s, birthday and last week, I surprised her with pole dancing lessons!! Woohoo!
Our typical ‘Girl’s Nights’ are Thursday, so as usual everyone was planning to go out. However, I had all the girls go to the dance studio while I took Ash out for a drink.
I ordered a glass of Merlot and sipped it on rather quickly since I knew our que would be coming quick to head to meet the girls.
I told Ashley that there was bad communication and the other girls went to a different bar, so we cashed out and I drove to the dance studio where the girls actually were and had everything set up. We were able to take our own drinks and appetizers, which was awesome!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ASHLEY!!
She was super surprised and we had such a blast learing the routine and playing around on the pole.
I had a busy day and got a lot accomplished. Before anything, I made myself breakfast – 1 egg, 2 egg whites with spinach, mushroom, onion and goat cheese.
First thing I needed to do was clean my room and do laundry and then I visited with my friend, Katie, and her mom for a bit and then finally made it to the gym for a workout.
The ‘Ladies Room’ where I go on occasion is awful. There are a few machines, one treadmill, one elliptical, a set of 12 pound weights, a set of 15 pound weights, a few bands and luckily to my surprise, a kettlebell! I made do with what I had and did a full body circuit.
Friday night we had birthday dinner plans for Ashley with two other couples. The boys chose Chili’s, so I did my best to eat healthfully there.
I ended up with the Grilled Chicken Salad, which was grilled chicken breast served over fresh field greens topped with fresh diced tomatoes, house-made cilantro corn relish, 3-cheese blend & honey-lime vinaigrette – for 430 calories. It was really good!
Dan and I slept in for a bit and then he and his dad took off golfing, which left the afternoon open for me. I made a quick snack and then decided to head out for a run. I was thinking I’d do 2.5 miles around the neighborhood.
I ended up doing 3 miles and I felt pretty good the whole time. I finished 3 miles in a little over 30 minutes and then I walked a bit at the end. When I got home I stretched my legs and made Vanilla Shakeology to refuel.
The remainder of the day was filled with football. We watched OSU then we made it over to visit with my parents before the Notre Dame/Michigan game.
Sadly, the Irish didn’t pull out the win, but it was still a good game.
We woke up and decided it would be a play day of a few drinks, football watching, football tossing and hanging with friends. It was a great way to end the weekend and per usual, we called it a night early.
This week should be pretty low key – I don’t have much going on and I’m trying to save my pennies. Tomorrow I’ll post my workout schedule and plan for the week.
Hope you had a lovely weekend!
