It’s not always easy making choices, but we have to, everyday.
What we wear and eat, who we’re friends with, to workout out or not, what to watch on TV, skip or eat dessert, etc.
Sometimes our choices will affect us and other times there’s no benefit or loss to what we decide.
When it’s comes to decisions about our health, we are absolutely affected. I used to think that a brownie here and a night of drinking there would be fine, but sadly, every little bit counts.
The reason I bring this up is because in starting this new ‘get fit’ plan, I’m having to make choices everyday that will affect my end goal. Currently, my short-term goal (well, the goal that Jen at Renegade set for me) is to lose five pounds in four weeks. Totally attainable. However…I will have to make many choices in the direction of helping me reach this goal whereas previously, I would’ve just chosen what sounded good at the time and not considered the goal.
For example, last night, girls from work went out for a co-workers birthday. They went to a Mexican restaurant (I have no control with chips and salsa) and they went right after work (I had planned on going to Renegade for 5:30 class). Now I had to decide – go to dinner, skip class, probably over eat and have a few drinks or apologize to the girls, keep the appointment I had at the gym (it has to be non-negotiable in my schedule) and make a healthy dinner when I get home.
Prior to setting my new goal I would’ve chosen Option A, but now that I’m in this and I know what I want, I chose Option B. Of course I felt bad that I couldn’t join the girls, but these are the types of decisions I’m going to need to continue to make if I want to reach the end result of losing five pounds… and then some.
Here’s my workout schedule for this week:
Last night, I was so happy I didn’t skip class. It was an awesome hour of push ups, TRX pull ups, sandbag squats, medicine ball abs, burpees and more. I shredded some major calories. Obviously, the 21 Day Challenge is over, but after a lot of thinking and crunching numbers, I decided to make Renegade my gym and cancel my membership at LA Fitness. This was another choice that took some thinking, but in the end, I know it’ll be best!
Today was a HIIT workout, so I created this circuit before I headed into the fitness center during my lunch hour.
It was a tough one and I forgot to factor in a rest in between each exercise, so this actually took me close to 35 minutes – I was a sweaty mess afterward.
As far as meals and snacks go, I’m just following the meal pairing rules, amping up my protein intake, keeping fruit to earlier in the day and eating every 3 hours. I was very pleased with how the breakdown looked for my meals on Monday.
Here’s what I consumed:
1 egg, 2 egg whites with leftover grilled veggies and goat cheese
3/4 cup of cottage cheese with 1/2 nectarine
1/2 of sweet potato with chicken and bbq sauce
Side salad with homemade creamy garlic dressing
Not pictured was my morning snack, which was, Vanilla Shakeology with almond milk.
I need to stick with days that are balanced and look exactly like that.
I’m excited to see how the next few weeks go!! If you want to join me, just comment here and take the next four weeks to make some changes of your own.
Here are my measurements as of last week:
R arm: 10.5 L arm: 10
R thigh: 22.5 L thigh: 21.5
Current weight: 138
4 week goal weight: 133
End goal weight: 130
Here we go!!
