Week 1 – check. Week 2 – check!
Can you even believe it’s day 15? Has it gone as fast for you as it has for me?
I’m really excited to finish up this last week. I woke up today awfully hungry. I imagine it’s because I wasn’t a huge fan of last night’s dinner, so I didn’t eat much. Yesterday was the first day that I really wasn’t satisfied with the meals, but as I keep telling myself and Ashley…it’s just food, I’m not going to make a fuss of it, and I’m not going to let it control my life. As many people do, we make a big deal out of meal times, we think all day about what we’re going to have for our next meal and we use it as comfort, when really we should simply be focusing on the nutrition of it and asking ourselves, did I get enough protein today? and carbs? and fiber?
It’s a hard routine to get into, but over the last 14 days, I’ve really been trying to listen to my body and enjoy the meals that we’ve made and realize that while they may not always be the tastiest, they’re super nutritious and that’s what’s important. I have the daily reminder of feeling so good, that it further is instilled in me my goal for this whole reset…
Eat to live. Don’t live to eat.
Food is fuel, not comfort.
Nutritous food can be delicious food.
Those have been my mantras when I have to find the willpower to look away from the temptations in front of me. In our kitchen at work there is currently – Jimmy Johns, donuts, bagels and a scrumptious looking cake. I ask myself, what would I do if I wasn’t cleansing? Would I eat the bagel? Would I have a small piece of cake? I’m hoping to get to the point that it’s not even a question and I just ignore them because they are only going to further me from my goal, but at the same time, I don’t want to deprive myself, so I need to find a happy medium.
Anyway, here’s how Beachbody explains week 2:
Phase 2: Release
In Week Two, you’ll continue to refine your diet. You’ll have stopped eating animal proteins and dairy and you’ll be eating vegetarian meals (for veggie challenged people, rest easy—we’ve found a way to make it yummy!) You’ll also be adding the next element in the Beachbody Ultimate Reset™ protocol: Detox. This supplement will help restore optimum health to your entire gastrointestinal tract, while detoxifying your body through improved bowel movements.
Although the Ultimate Reset is gentle, you may find you’re releasing toxic substances from more than just your digestive tract. Some people experience skin breakouts, while others find themselves releasing toxic emotions or dropping negative habits they’ve been holding on to.
After the freeing experience of a strong release phase, you’ll now be ready to restore your body to ultimate health.
Well I was very ready to get rid of the Detox supplement. By the end it was bearable, but not my favorite part. So long!
The food servings seemed to be less and the meals weren’t as good to me as week 1, but that’s personal preference. I’ve been eating fruit for breakfast for over a week and I could really use some oatmeal, toast or eggs mixed in there.
I didn’t experience breakouts – my skin actually looks great! And while they weren’t toxic feelings, I did find myself feeling emotional and wanting to cry for no reason, on a few occasions.
Recap of Reset Week 2
How I feel mentally: I see the finish line and I’m sprinting to it. These days have really flown by. I think the weekends are actually the worst part because we’re cooped up, it’s cold and blah. If it was summer, we could be doing outdoor activities, which would be amazing! Note to self: Reset in the summer next time.
Sleepy: Not too sleepy. They say your sleep becomes much deeper during the reset and you feel well rested, but I must say, I’ve never had a problem with sleep so it’s hard to compare!
Hungry: Today? Yes. Throughout the week a little bit here and there, more so than week 1.
Mood: Honestly, a little crabby. Not sure why. Probably because I’m a woman and we tend to have mood swings, most likely! I REALLY need to sweat – I know that would help!
What I miss: In order – Turbo, Shakeology, toast and oatmeal. Random…
How I feel physically: I like how light I’m feeling. I like going to bed and waking up without the bloated belly. This was day 11.
Weight: I’m down 5.5 pounds, which I’m very happy with!
So that wraps up week 2. Tonight we’re having garlic veggies, sweet potato and quinoa and I can’t wait! That meal sounds much more satisfying than what I’ve been eating.
